Mike has worked in the health and social care sector for nearly 30 years. Starting as a care assistant in a private sector residential home, Mike's career path took him into the public sector. Progressing through Operational Management before moving into Social Care procurement for a Local Authority and NHS Learning Disabilities Lead Commissioning Partnership. Prior to moving back into the private sector in 2006, for four years, Mike provided the interface between health and social care commissioners and the provider sector, leading on system change and market development.
For 13 years Mike worked for a leading provider of support and accommodation for people with learning disabilities and complex needs. As Development and Partnerships Director, Mike lead his team in developing mutually supportive partnerships with commissioners and individuals to design and deliver innovative and outcome-focused support solutions. Mike has collaborated with ADASS to publish a think piece on residential care and supported living and with the LGA Transforming Care program to support the Peer Review process.
Mike joined the National Care Group in 2019. As Commercial Director his focus is on developing sustainable, quality-driven relationships with Commissioners and the people who use our services, understanding their needs and expectation and providing solutions that deliver on national and local priorities.
