Donna Walklet, Registered Manager, and her team at Regent Road, Stoke-on-Trent, are one of the first National Care Group services to have their second COVID vaccination.

“I am so pleased to see that we are continuing to make progress with the vaccine,” said Donna Walklet, Registered Manager. “Both our colleagues and the people we support are all doing their bit to protect themselves and help to save lives.”

A nurse visited the residential service, where our colleagues were the first to receive their vaccines, followed by the people we support, who were supported by their care team throughout the process.

“While some of the people we support were slightly nervous, our team shared easy read information and let them choose their preferred member of staff to be their buddy,”

To celebrate afterwards, the service threw a lovely party, with everyone getting a chance to enjoy some delicious cake and play games!

Katie Fallows, Regional Operations Manager, was proud of the service: “It is a great achievement for the team at Regent Road who have taken such a proactive approach in receiving their second dose of the vaccine. I was also able to get my second COVID vaccine and so pleased to be part of the initiative that will help keep people safe from the virus and ensure we are still providing excellent person-centred care to all the people we support.”
