Stephen, Harley, Karen, Aimee, Dex, Ian, Erron and Team Leader, Vickywere nominated by Registered Manager, Mandy Berry. Mandy nominated the team for the way in which they dedicated themselves to LW, a person we supported who was on end-of-life care.

Pictured is Team Leader Vicky Leonard with Nigel, a person we support at Affinity Supporting People.

Together, they provided round the clock support and dedicated much of their personal time to deliver on their promise that she would not die alone.

Team Leader Vicky spent time with LW following her diagnosis, discussing with her how she wished to be cared for. The team thought nothing of fulfilled LW wishes by arranging a holiday for her before she became too ill.

When LW’s health rapidly deteriorated, the team made arrangements for Palliative support and sourced help from district nurses to enable her to stay at home – something LW had wanted. As LW’s condition worsened, the team never left her side, ensuring she received the pain management she required.

In her final days, when it was decided LW would need hospice care, Vicky accompanied her and didn’t leave her side. Vicky was also instrumental in making funeral arrangements for LW, ensuring all her requests were fulfilled.

Despite the emotional toll caring for LW had on the whole team, they all worked tirelessly never wavering in their care for her.

Well done to all the team for their incredible efforts.
