Lee & Nicole from Shelton Care are January's Outstanding Achievement Award Winners!


Lee and Nicole were nominated for a National Care Group Outstanding Achievement Award in January by their registered manager Justine Jones for the professional and compassionate way they dealt with an emergency situation and following passing-away of a long-standing and much-loved person we support at Oak House, Shelton Care.


The monthly awards are open to all National Care Group and are an opportunity for the hardwork and remarkable achievements of colleagues to be recognised and celebrated.

In January the Executive Team received the following 19 nominations which they had to deliberate and score. All brilliant stories:


  • The Stroud Road Team at Chosen Care came a close second to Lee and Nicole. They were nominated by their registered manager Kathy Howitt for the remarkable progress they have made for a particular person they support - really improving and empowering his quality of life.
  • The Christchurch Apartments Team at Highlea Care were nominated by Ceara Holmes for supporting a person they support and their family through end-of-life care so passionately and professionally.
  • Craig Jackson at 62 Ardent Avenue was nominated by Chris Smith for various achievements including stepping up in absence of their team leader and also dealing with a major incident. He always has a positive attitude and works so hard.
  • Linda Fox from the Estates Team was nominated by her manager Mark Mason as she gets regular compliments on the quality of her work, and for generally being brilliant at what she does.
  • The Lord Nelson House Team were nominated by Marie Roberts for putting in so many extra and long hours during shortages.
  • Wiss Saidi from The Willows was nominated by Kirsty Webb & Libby Wise who praised him for his long service and achievements for the people he supports.
  • The Willows Bungalow Team were also nominated by Kirsty Webb for being great team players and overcoming some recent challenges.
  • Sue Nicolson, The Willows Admin, was nominated by Lucy Fathers for being so supportive.
  • Jayne Gregson from the NCG Recruitment Team was nominated by regional operations manager Charlotte Lumley for all her recent support and expert help with some major recruitment projects.
  • Jess Burkey, Kim Williams and Suzy Burnop from Cornerstones were praised by registered manager Shaun Smitherman for embracing changes and successfully embedding them into the service so professionally.
  • Alexander Astejada from Jamesons Supported Living was nominated by by Leah Whelan for selflessly moving into service for a week during a Covid outbreak, working with passion and dedication to both people we support who tested positive and negative.
  • Chiq Whitehouse and Callisto Rugadza from the Learning and Development Team were nominated by Nicola Airey for quickly creating and rolling out the rapid response Covid training for the support functions, working hard over the Christmas period to get it ready.
  • Geri Howarth from Ashbrook neurological centre was nominated by Kath Cox for working so hard to be accepted onto a university course to become a registered nurse in order to relieve the workload of other nurses.
  • Rachel Oram at Steps Rotherham was nominated by Karen Kirkup for the brilliant support and warm welcome she showed Karen when she joined Steps last year. Karen couldn't praise Rachel enough.
  • Sam Hilder from Atlantic Way Care was nominated by fellow colleagues for stepping up to cover recently and generally being brilliant. Sam recently won a local award at Atlantic Way Care too - well done Sam!
  • Claire Carr from Jamesons Residential was nominated by Sarah Stowe for being a constant high performer at what she does. Claire actually received two nominations - go Claire!
  • The Christchurch Apartments Team at Affinity were nominated for achieving major progress with a person they support and embedding a new and more positive culture at the service.
  • A massive well done to all our amazing colleagues!
