CELEBRATING SUCCESS | David wins a cool achievement award
DAVID FERROL WIN'S THE OUTSTANDING ACHEIVEMENT AWARD FOR DECEMBER!

David Ferrol, a support worker from National Care Group's Highlea Care service in County Durham, won the outstanding achievement award for December for literally going the extra mile for the people he supports.

Early December 2021, snow was forecast in the area and the people David supports at Ash House were excited at the thought of building a snowman. However disaster struck, the weather report changed and the snow didn't arrive as planned! Determined for the people he supports to have their snowman, David drove 40 miles to Langdon Beck where it had been snowing in the hills, shovelled snow into insulated boxes and brought them back to Ash House so everyone got their frosty wish!

David was nominated by his registered manager Julie Cowens as his actions showed how he really thought outside of the box and didn’t let the lack of ‘resources’ stop him from creating a memorable day for the people he supports. He really went the extra mile and excelled at his job.

Other outstanding performance nominations received in December included:

  • Adele Ashman from Integra TyNant by Keith Jones for making Christmas so special for the people they support
  • The Chosen Care Supported Living Team by their RM Kathy Howitt for showing strength and resilience through a traumatic time dealing with the passing of two of the people they support in a short space of time.
  • Claire Carr from Jameson's Residential, nominated by Leah Wheelan, for stepping up to cover the responsibilities of the RM and dealing with a Covid outbreak at Christmas.
