Our incredible colleagues and the people we support made Care Home Open Week 2023 a huge success for National Care Group.

Many of our services opened their doors to friends and families to join in this year’s celebrations, proudly shining a light on all that makes the care sector so special.

We’re sharing a snapshot of just some of the events that took place:

Care Home Open Week couldn’t have been timed better for Walliscote Road in Somerset, as it coincided with the first-year anniversary of its doors opening for the first time. It was a glorious day, and everybody came together for a garden party to celebrate what an amazing year it has been, and to showcase all the brilliant work that’s been done already.

Palmarium's Family & Friends Open Day was another anniversary celebration when people came together to share in the achievements of its first year.

At Abbeyvale Care Centre in County Durham, the atmosphere was nothing short of amazing at its Family & Friends Day. Everybody enjoyed an afternoon tea lunch in the communal garden, followed by Prosecco (non-alcoholic) and cake later in the day.

The real showstoppers of the day though were Teddy and Maurice, two therapy donkeys who paid a special visit to add to the merriment. There were smiles all round and it was heart-warming to see the people we support interact with our special guests.

Just as the Special Olympics World Games came to an end, another momentous sporting occasion began at Endurance Care Deal and Hythe. To celebrate Care Home Open Week, a sports day was organised.

Everybody tried their very best and an entire squad of National Care Group Olympians were discovered. Gold medals, trophies and certificates of participation were awarded for the huge efforts and it was a memorable day for all.

Following a major refurbishment over the year, everyone at our Chosen Court in Gloucestershire had waited in anticipation to showcase the fantastic improvements. They decided to throw a Celebration Day during Care Home Open Week so friends and families could get a closer look at the new and improved facilities.

The people we support at Chosen Court were especially proud as they have been involved in the project from the very start. This included working with the contractors to support with renovation duties and choosing colour schemes for their bedrooms.

It was a wonderful week of celebrating care and the incredible people that work within the sector and all they do to enrich the lives of the people we support.
