Our Location
Essential Care and Support currently operates across County Durham, Sunderland, and North Tyneside providing supported living and outreach in addition to Abbeyvale - our residential service for people with a range of care and support needs.
Our head office is located at Lighthouse View in Seaham, and our supported living provision includes accommodation in Murton, Sunderland, Spennymoor, Blackhall, and the surrounding areas.
Provision
Our supported living services assist people to live in their own homes (be that bought or rented), with help from members of our dedicated team, who are generally based full-time at the home address. Our outreach service is usually the final step in a person’s care pathway and involves a reduced package of support, provided in their own home and/or to support them to access the community.
Our support
Our support is tailored for people with:
Learning disabilities
Autism spectrum
Mental health issues
Physical disabilities
Communication difficulties
Complex health needs
Neurological concerns/cognitive impairments
Meet the Manager
My name is Claire McCabe the Registered Manager at Essential Care and Support. I have worked in the adult social care sector for the last 13 years and spent 12 years with the same organisation.
My journey started as a support worker and through my personal development plan, I progressed to Deputy Manager then Registered Manager. I have also spent time multi-managing various services as an Area Manager including residential, outreach, and supported living, covering County Durham, Middlesbrough, and North Yorkshire.
My most recent position in the organisation was as a Registered Manager at a learning disability service for people with severe learning disabilities, mental health diagnosis, Autism, complex health needs, communication difficulties and some behaviours that challenge. I held the Registered Manager position for over 5 years.
I love my job and genuinely get a great deal of satisfaction in helping others. What is important to me is that people are supported and encouraged to lead full and happy lives. I want to be known as the Manager who fully supports these ambitions to ensure the people we support reach their potential and achieve their aspirations.
I am a passionate leader who is keen to support others to achieve in their careers too. It is very important to me to invest time into my Team and encourage them to develop and thrive in their roles, unlocking their full potential.
I am a people person and very approachable so please never be afraid to call me, email me, or set up a meeting to say hello!
My brilliant team
We employ a highly dedicated team of skilled and motivated colleagues who receive both mandatory and additional training and support to meet the specific needs of each individual person in their care. Team members have a wealth of knowledge and experience and working alongside them is a Service Manager. They receive regular visits from me, their Regional Operations Manager and Regional Operations Director to support them however we can.
Collaboration is key to our success at Essential Care & Support. The Team benefits from having a network of support from other National Care Group services in the area and they also successfully work in partnership with local professionals to provide a consistent, informed, and effective service to all those they support.
