Richmond Mews raise over £1000 for Walk for Autism

Our colleagues and the people we support at Richmond Mews,
Stoke-on-Trent, put their best foot forward in helping raise money for Walk for Autism.

Walk for Autism is a fundraising challenge which involves walking 10,000 steps, individually or as a collective, every day from 26 March to 2 April, to help raise money for research and spread awareness about autism.

As a care provider that specialises in supporting individuals with complex needs, this initiative really hit home for our colleagues at Richmond Mews and they decided to get involved and be more active whilst doing so.

Two of the people we support at the service, who go on daily walks, also wanted to take part with the support of their staff team.

“Walking has been a saviour for the individuals we support during COVID-19,” said Jake Warburton, Service Manager. “It has helped with reducing anxieties for the people we support, and it was a great idea to make walking more fun and raise money at the same.”

The service has so far raised over £1,000 for the fundraising challenge, an incredible achievement and an example of the amazing work that is being done at the service who remain committed to support people to live rewarding lives.

Katie Fallows, Regional Operations Manager, said: “I am so proud of Jake and his team for raising money for such a worthy cause as it really reflects the commitment our colleagues have shown to improve the lives of people with complex needs such as autism. A special mention must also go to our two residents who also took part in the walk – well done!”
