GREAT NEWS | Regent College rated GOOD by Ofsted
National Care Group is delighted to share that its specialist education provider, Regent College based in Stoke on Trent, has been rated as GOOD following an Ofsted Full Inspection during May 2023.

Three inspectors from Ofsted were present on College sites for a total of three days during which time they scrutinised all areas of provision. They collected a wide range of evidence to inform their judgements. The inspection team used a ‘deep dive’ approach observing sessions, scrutinising learners’ work, and examining all documentation and records. They also sought the views of the learners, parents/carers, colleagues, The College’s Advisory Board members and stakeholders.

Amongst the feedback, it was stated that The College has made exceptional progress since the last inspection and that funding has been used to good effect.

Key judgements of GOOD were made in all the following areas:

1. The quality of education

2. Behaviour and attitudes

3. Personal development

4. Leadership and management

5. Provision for learners with high needs

Wendy Williams, Regent College Principal said: "I am extremely proud of the team for this fantastic achievement which recognises the hard work of everyone involved. The commitment and high expectations from my colleagues empower learners to achieve their aspirations and reach their full potential.

Thank you to all of our learners, parents/carers and our colleagues who took part in the inspection."

The inspectors acknowledged that The College team creates a calm and inclusive environment which promotes a culture of mutual respect. Learners take part enthusiastically in their learning.

Other highlights of the report’s feedback include:

• Our curriculum – it was acknowledged that we successfully deliver a curriculum that aims to develop learners’ employability, personal independence, and skills in preparation for adulthood.

• Our teaching practice – our commitment to continually improve the skills of staff and the quality of teaching, learning and assessment.

• Our work experience and volunteering partnerships – wherever appropriate learners participate in a wide range of meaningful volunteering and work placements to develop the skills and confidence they will need in the workplace.

• Our strategies – behaviour support and inclusive communication strategies enable learners to participate fully in sessions.
