GREAT NEWS | Katie Highly Commended by Great British Care Awards

Katie Fallows is Highly Commended for her Outstanding Contribution to Social Care

National Care Group is proud to announce that Regional Operations Manager for the Central Region, Katie Fallows, was recently Highly Commended for her outstanding contribution to social care at the Great British Care Awards North West Regional Finals.

Katie's dedication and commitment to Shelton Care over the past 20 years, her famous hands-on management approach, and her genuine interest in changing the lives of the People she Supports are what make Katie stand out and absolutely worthy of this recognition.

Pre-acquisition by National Care Group, Katie progressed from support worker to senior, then unit coordinator before becoming the overall coordinator of Shelton. Katie took on the challenge of Care Services Coordinator which saw her, amongst other responsibilities, traveling the country, and supporting people to move on or move into Shelton. During this time, she managed the redevelopment of the environmental and support structure at one property, enabling the service to move with the needs of the individual people and with the development of the social care sector.

Katie also led the creation of two new residential properties – which quickly became successful services purpose-designed to meet the needs of those with complex behaviours. The first of their kind at the time.

When interviewing Katie about her career highlight she stated “There isn’t one specific highlight, as I get to see so many incredible transformations for the people we support all the time. So many people’s lives have been changed by our team of amazing colleagues over the years, and not one means more than any others. 20 years later, I get the same feeling of elation when I see people thriving or hear about their progress.”

Katie’s daughter said; “There’s never been a day when Shelton hasn’t been part of our lives. Weddings, holidays, graduations; Mum’s constantly on the phone, or dropping something off at a service, or giving someone a lift.”

Well done to Katie! and all our other colleagues for being shortlisted in the Great British Care Awards, your dedication, selflessness, and commitment do not go unnoticed.
