Preventing the spread of flu from happening

As we enter the winter period, more people are susceptible to seasonal flu, which can spread easily from person to person, with symptoms including a fever, cough, headache, sore throat, muscle and joint pains and a runny nose.

With our responsibility of care for vulnerable people in settings where there is an increased risk of spreading the flu, it is important that we encourage all our staff to do their bit to prevent this spread from happening.

The 'I've had my flu jab' campaign, running across all our services in England and Wales, reminds staff of the importance of getting their free flu vaccination as soon as possible to protect themselves, their family and friends, and the individuals they support.

“This year, as never before, the need to get a flu jab is critical and will, according to government advice, help to stop the Coronavirus pandemic spreading further. I would urge all our staff to book a flu vaccination via their NHS surgery or local pharmacy as soon as possible for their own safety, and for the safety of the individuals we support,” James Allen, Chief Executive Officer.

National Care Group are also pleased to see our staff are taking the necessary measures to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus, including wearing PPE and following government guidelines as they are regularly updated.

Thanks to their dedication and commitment, infection rates within our services have been extremely low and we continue to remind our staff to always follow the guidelines and remain safe – including preventing the spread of the flu.
