Stephen's Volunteering Victories
A community partnership in Norfolk is empowering the people we support to not only help those less fortunate but also enhance everyday life skills.
Stephen is a person we support at Endurance Care Kings Lynn. He volunteers at Top Banana – a not-for-profit organisation that supports families on low income and those less fortunate.
Enhancing Independent Living Skills
Stephen supports the community project by preparing and serving meals to attendees, as well as helping with cleanup after each session.
Attending the weekly sessions has enhanced Stephen’s social skills, cooking skills, and general knowledge of food and food hygiene. He has also made new friends.
“Stephen loves attending Top Banana and has developed the confidence to go independently without support. Working alongside other volunteers, he prepares the meals, which are made from scratch in the morning. It has been a fantastic opportunity for him to improve his cooking knowledge. He has even replicated some of these at home. What’s more, he has achieved ‘Volunteer of the Week’ twice!”
- Lara Godfrey, Service Manager at Endurance Care Kings Lynn
Commitment to Community & Partnerships
At National Care Group, we empower individuals to reach their full potential and become active citizens in their local communities.
The partnership with Top Banana is a great opportunity for Stephen to integrate within the community, develop confidence, learn new skills, build friendships, and give back.
“I just like helping them because it makes me feel good. This kind of thing makes me happy.”
- Stephen
