The successful inspection
Riversdale, a National Care Group residential service on the outskirts of Cardiff, has been awarded a rating of Good by Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) as the regulator begins to roll-out its new way of rating services.
Following an inspection in August 2024, CIW rated Riversdale ‘Good’ across all key criteria. They check to ensure safe care is being provided, that people’s rights are being respected and that their quality of life is being enhanced.
The CIW report, published in November, highlights the service’s commitment to high support standards and positive outcomes for the adults living there.
The regulator’s inspection found that people living at Riversdale are being supported to be as independent as possible and are happy with the support provided to them.
What local partners and colleagues said
One visiting professional quoted in the report said “The support staff are brilliant. People are the priority for them”.
The professional partners also said that they had excellent communication channels between them and the proactive management team.
Colleagues were quoted to have said they are well trained and are happy which creates a positive environment at the service.
One colleague quoted said, “The wellbeing of the people we support is always put first and staff encourage people to be as independent as possible.”
The Riversdale team told inspectors they felt supported to learn and develop.
All team members who spoke with inspectors said they enjoyed their work. One commented: “Any additional training is encouraged by the organisation. They are willing to invest in you.”
All health services in Wales will be provided with one of four ratings by the CIW: Outstanding, Good, Requires Improvement, or Inadequate. The latest rating confirms the service’s dedication to quality and safety.
