Celebrating Support Worker of the Year, Addy

From newcomer to an influential support worker, we're shining a spotlight on the career progression of Springvale Resource Centre colleague, Addy

Shining a spotlight on our 'Support Worker of the Year'

When Addy started a career at Springvale Resource Centre as a bank support worker, he joined with no prior social care experience.

In less than two years, his confidence flourished, and he felt empowered to take on more responsibilities, resulting in a promotion to a senior role and a national award!

“Addy entered the field with fresh eyes, a compassionate heart, and a remarkable drive to make a difference. He joined as a bank support worker and, from the get-go, was eager to get involved with the complex care needs and routines of the people we support, build impactful relationships, and ultimately empower them to achieve their full potential. His quick progression to a senior support worker role reflects his dedication, ability, and natural leadership qualities. He’s a crucial part of our team at Springvale.”

Addy wins an Outstanding Achievement Award!

Wendy nominated Addy for an ‘Outstanding Achievement Award’. The awards, organised by National Care Group, recognise colleagues who go above and beyond their roles to make amazing things happen for support people or their fellow team members.

The award nominations were assessed by a panel of judges from National Care Group’s executive team and two supported people.

Addy was crowned the national ‘Support Worker of the Year’ winner. As part of celebrations, he joined other award winning colleagues for an unforgettable experience in London.

Celebrating Addy's achievements

Wendy praised Addy’s contributions to championing independence for the people he supports, commitment to personal and professional development, and his willingness to go above and beyond to support his colleagues and the people supported at Springvale.

Addy played a crucial role in organising and supporting two individuals from Springvale to go on their first holiday in over 15 years. The trip was not just a break from routine but a life-enhancing opportunity that enabled the supported people to enjoy new experiences and personal achievements. Addy’s passionate support ensured that they were involved in the plans at every step, felt safe, and ultimately had an unforgettable vacation.

He was also praised for his extreme selflessness in ensuring the continuity of support for supported people at Springvale.

“Addy's willingness to go the extra mile, whether staying late, picking up extra shifts, or creatively problem-solving, makes him an invaluable part of the team. He is a shining example of what outstanding support looks like and is incredibly deserving of the title Support Worker of the Year!”
