Regent College Serves Up Community Spirit

A charity tennis tournament organised by Regent College is returns for a second year!

Charity tennis tournament is a success!

For a second consecutive year, a charity tennis tournament organised by National Care Group’s Regent College, featuring high-quality sport from some of Staffordshire’s top junior players, has been hailed a success!

Regent College teamed up with local organisations, the Florence Tennis Club and the Sir Stanley Matthews Foundation, to deliver the special tennis tournament.

As a result of this event, and other fundraising efforts, learners and tutors presented a £253.01 cheque to Dougie Mac, Stoke-on-Trent charity that Regent College has supported for many years.

Beyond raising money for a good cause, the event empowered Regent College learners to build skills and independence in an engaging way, introduced them and the local community to sports, and offered a great way to have fun!

Alan Baxter is a tutor at Regent College, as well as Head Coach at Florence Tennis Club, and Director of Coaching for the Sir Stanley Matthews Foundation:

“For a second year, Regent College organised a brilliant event for the community, while raising money for Dougie Mac. Our fundraising efforts have earned us ‘bronze leaf’ status from the local charity.

“I’d like to extend my thanks to Regent College learner Ethan, who did an excellent job monitoring match balls, encouraging Sir Stan’s sporting values, and collecting donations.

"Thank you to the Sir Stanley Matthews Foundation for providing coaches and awards; Samantha Holgate from Dougie Mac for providing resources on the day and helping build the community link, and to the Florence Tennis Club for allowing us to hold the event.”
