Reducing Our Carbon Footprint with
New IT Recycling Partnership

Operating a greener IT infrastructure

National Care Group has donated 340 redundant laptops to be disposed of in an environmentally friendly way between April 2024 and March 2025!

A new partnership with one of the leading IT disposal and recycling providers in the UK is providing National Care Group with a sustainable solution for disposing of redundant laptops.

Gigacycle operates a 0% landfill policy, with a commitment to recycle and reuse every piece of IT-related equipment to minimise environmental impact. Over the past 12 months, National Care Group has donated 340 redundant laptops to Gigacycle.

Christopher Dean is National Care Group’s Head of Information Technology. As part of his greener IT infrastructure strategy, he initiated the new partnership with Gigacycle. He said:

“With over 3,000 colleagues supporting more than 1,300 people in services across the UK, National Care Group has its fair share of digital assets. In fact, there are currently 683 laptops currently in use.

“As an organisation, we’re on a digital transformation journey. With a shared commitment to environmental responsibility and an excellent reputation for asset disposal and data destruction, Gigacycle was the ideal partner of choice, supporting us to promote environmentally friendly practices.”

Gigacycle works in accordance with the UK Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations, providing a service to assist organisations in the disposal of their redundant IT equipment. According to its website, it has recycled 850,000 computers, 115,000 monitors, and 76,000 laptops.
