Empowered to Digitally Upskill

Fran has been empowered to enhance her digital skills, enabling her to perform more effectively in her role

Senior support worker Fran is a self-confessed technophobe. But, with ongoing support from colleagues, she has been empowered to enhance her digital skills, enabling her to perform more effectively in her role.

Digital Transformation Journey

As part of National Care Group’s digital transformation to improve the delivery of support, several new digital processes and systems have been implemented at services in the last 12 months, allowing us to focus on delivering high-quality service excellence.

Fran has worked in the social care sector for nearly 20 years and has always done her work primarily on paper. In less than a year, she has progressed from having no computer skills to now confidently and independently using a variety of new digital processes and systems.

Kelly Smith is the Registered Manager at Endurance Care Worcestershire. She beams with pride at how much Fran has developed.

“Fran would be the first to admit that she is a complete technophobe. We’re blown away by her commitment to improve her digital skillset; she just needed a little nudge and the right support!

“As a team, we supported Fran every step of the way, celebrating her achievements both big and small, as each step really was a big deal in this journey of Fran’s. Now she shines bright, laptop in hand, with newfound skills, knowledge, and confidence to continuously develop.

“Despite some initial stress and ongoing frustrations as she learnt how to use a laptop and the new digital systems, her progress is simply incredible! Fran now independently conducts audits, books medication, monitors records, and audits stock each week, and edits support plans – all in the new digital systems.

“She even felt empowered to teach herself how to create some posters for the house; they looked brilliant, and she was very proud of herself, and rightly so. We’re all so proud of her!”

Fran’s Career Progression

At National Care Group, we recognise how important it is for our colleagues to have the skills, knowledge, and confidence to deliver outstanding support and thrive in their careers.

Kelly praises Fran’s passion for making a difference and always doing the best she can in her role as a senior support worker. With newfound confidence, the only way is up!

“The aim is to continue to develop Fran’s knowledge and skills so that, along with her passion for her role and continuous learning and development, she gains the necessary skills to progress further in her career at National Care Group.”
