We are delighted to share the story of one of National Care Group’s Outstanding Achievement Award winners, Raymond!

Raymond was entered into the monthly awards, which celebrate colleagues’ performance in line with the National Care Group values, by his colleague Julie. Julie nominated him for being a fairly new support worker at 8 Acres who has very quickly demonstrated all of the values.

Raymond is passionate about his role and is always engaged and motivated. He has developed special bonds with two of the people he supports, Jonathan and Georgie, and demonstrates his understanding of the role of encouraging independent skills and motivating them, and others, to do the same.

He has recently received very positive feedback from Georgie’s relatives who are so proud of what she is achieving with thanks to Raymond’s active support.

The wellbeing of others is especially important to Raymond too, and he has become quite the role model at 8 Acres in a short space of time.

Raymond’s role at 8 Acres is his second role in social care. He joined National Care Group from elderly care and is enjoying being able to help the young adults he supports develop their independent living skills.

We asked Raymond, what would he say to anyone considering a role in social care but is discouraged by the myth that the jobs are better suited to women:

"I would say that social care is about compassion and skill, not gender. Everyone has something to offer in this field of work, and it is very rewarding."
