National Care Group has submitted evidence to the Independent Commission on Adult Social Care, chaired by Baroness Casey, as part of the national Big Conversation on Care.
In our submission, we set out the case for a social care system built around independence, citizenship and community inclusion, with particular focus on ensuring working-age adults with learning disabilities, autism, acquired brain injuries and mental health needs are not overlooked in a debate that often centres on older people.

Too much of the public debate focuses on older people, and while that's vital, working-age adults with learning disabilities, autism, acquired brain injuries and complex mental health needs must not be overlooked. For many of the people we support, this isn't a short-term need but a lifetime of support, and the future system has to reflect that. We look forward to playing our part in shaping it."
The Big Conversation on Care is also open to the public, and we’re encouraging our colleagues, the people we support, and their families to share their own views and experiences directly with the Commission.
