Celebrating Excellence at Caewern Lodge

Caewern Lodge, part of Integra Community Living Options, National Care Group’s specialist business in Wales, has been recognised for delivering exceptional support following a recent inspection by Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW).

The service, which supports gentlemen to live independently and build meaningful lives in their community, was rated Excellent in both of CIW’s key inspection areas: Well-being and Care & Support, which are the highest ratings CIW awards. Caewern Lodge also received two ratings of Good across the remaining inspection areas.

The inspection, carried out on 14 May 2026, found no areas for improvement and no priority action notices.

"People enjoy an excellent quality of life here"

Inspectors praised a service where people are genuinely in the driving seat of their own lives. Their report noted that people at Caewern Lodge enjoy an excellent quality of life and are empowered to maintain control over their own decisions, with a powerful voice in how their support is shaped.

People told inspectors directly what that looks like day to day. One person said simply that the best thing about Caewern Lodge is “living here”, while another described the home as “really chilled out,”. A third explained how easy it is to raise a concern: “It’s really good; I go straight to staff with any problem and they’ll sort it.”

Strong leadership behind the scenes

The inspection pointed to effective, positive and inclusive leadership as central to the service’s success. Colleagues told inspectors they feel valued, supported and listened to, with one team member saying: “We feel human… everyone has a voice.” Another added: “My manager and team leaders are brilliant.”

It caps off a remarkable year for the team. Back in March, Caewern Lodge won Team of the Year at the Together We Care Awards, and support worker Callum was recognised with NCG’s Outstanding Achievement Award for the calm, professional way he handled a crisis at the service.
