Caewern Lodge wins Team of the Year

National recognition of a team that consistently goes the extra mile for the people they support
The team at Caewern Lodge, one of our Integra Community Living Options’ specialist mental health services in Neath, has been named Team of the Year at the prestigious Together We Care Awards –  Wales’ annual celebration of excellence in social care and support.
 
The award was presented on 13 March at a sparkling ceremony held at Swansea’s iconic Brangwyn Hall, hosted by acclaimed Welsh actor, writer and director Christian Patterson. Guests were welcomed with a moving performance from the Musical Memories Choir – a West Glamorgan-based group that brings people living with dementia and their carers together through the joy of song.

A team that goes above and beyond

The nomination, put forward by registered manager Rebecca, painted a picture of a team that consistently goes the extra mile – not just in the day-to-day delivery of support, but in the countless small moments that make a lasting difference to the people who live at Caewern Lodge.
 
From handmaking personalised Christmas baubles with the people they support, to facilitating a community ecological project in which two people crafted a disability friendly toilet from sustainable materials over several months, the Caewern Lodge team brings creativity, patience and collaboration to everything they do.
 
The nomination spoke of a service where people who had spent years in hospital are now being supported to become active members of their community – attending Bon Jovi and Kate Bush tribute nights, taking part in inter-service culinary competitions, and, in one particularly moving milestone, a person who arrived at Caewern Lodge six months earlier with significant mental health challenges going on to thrive and move on to greater independence.
