Game, Set, Match! Tennis Tournament for Local Hospice

A charity tennis tournament organised by Regent College has been hailed a success!

A charity tennis tournament organised by Regent College, featuring high-quality sport from some of Staffordshire’s top junior players, has been hailed a success!

Regent College, part of National Care Group, teamed up with local organisations, the Florence Tennis Club and the Sir Stanley Matthews Foundation, to deliver the special tennis tournament.

A total of £197 was collected from ticket sales and donated to Dougie Mac, a local charity that Regent College has supported through fundraising events for many years.

“We’re so grateful to everyone who supported this community event and helped to raise this brilliant amount. The money raised will help us to continue our care services for local people of all ages who are facing a life-limiting illness, as well as providing support to their families.”

Alongside raising money for a good cause, the event aimed to develop skills and grow independence in an engaging way, introduce learners and the local community to sports, and above all, have fun!

Alan Baxter is a tutor at Regent College, as well as Head Coach at Florence Tennis Club, and Director of Coaching for the Sir Stanley Matthews Foundation:

“A big thank you to everyone involved, including former Regent College learner and Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) official Nathan Turner, who refereed in memory of his grandfather, who was supported by Dougie Mac. “The tournament was a huge success and could become an annual event! It was such a special day, all for a good cause, with spectators treated to some quality tennis from 30 talented, young players who took part.”

Feedback from attendees, tutors, learners, and tennis players
