Wendy Khan
Phoenix House, Registered Manager

Wendy started her career in health and social care as a Registered General Nurse and worked across numerous specialties including gynaecology. She then made the decision to change the focus of her nursing career and completed her Registered Mental Health nurse training.

Following her qualification, she worked in numerous mental health settings including medium secure, low secure and locked rehabilitation. Initially working as a staff nurse, she progressed her career to Charge Nurse, Clinical Services Manager, and finally Hospital Director. During her career, she completed diplomas in Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Health Services Management.

Whilst working as Hospital Director, she had overall responsibility of the services she managed. In 2013, she was asked to manage a failing low secure service. She embraced the challenge and after much hard work, the service was turned around, becoming ‘good’ with the CQC. In 2015 Wendy was asked to manage the opening of a 32-bed locked rehabilitation service. When she left in 2016, the service was registered with the CQC, fully staffed, and had good occupancy.

Wendy moved to manage the services at Stepping Stones in 2016 and through her passion for caring for people with complex mental health needs, has ensured the services she manages are quality services, providing excellent care to the Individuals we support and maximising their independence.
