UNLOCKING POTENTIAL | New Rainbow Tablets

Everyone at National Care Group is passionate about unlocking the potential of all we support. We are dedicated to our progression model of care, encouraging independence, and empowering everyone to live a full, rewarding, and happy life in every way we can.

Always looking to be able to develop new skills, we are proud to have recently introduced some extra-large Rainbow tablets to some of our services. Amongst other things, they assist the People We Support who are unable to communicate verbally to express themselves better.

The Rainbow tablets have been tested at our Ashbrook Service and have been so successful we have recently purchased another for Abbeyvale Care Centre. The tablets have been brilliant in aiding with person-centred care and fantastic for both individual and group activities. The tablets can be used by all ages and used for both traditional activities whilst also offering the People We Support an opportunity to engage in new fun digital experiences.

Here are just a few examples of what the tablets can be used for

  • Games, Cards & Puzzles

  • Sensory & Dementia Apps

  • Colouring, Drawing & Painting

  • Board Games and Virtual Reality Games

  • Brain Training & Memory Apps

  • Care Home & Dementia Solutions

  • Quizzes & Trivia

  • Music & Sing Along

  • Watching Films & TV Shows

  • Amazon Prime & Netflix

  • ZOOM - Video Call Family & Friends

Ricco and Liam, People We Support at our Ashbrook Service, said they love using the tablet as it means they can engage with each other and have fun. Their favourite activity is wordsearch and when support workers join in when it gets trickier which brings everybody together problem solving. Due to the sheer size of the screen it allows everyone to be involved and see.

Ricco told us that "it turns all different ways and heights so I can use it when I am in my wheelchair or when I am in my bed". Whilst Liam said "I like using the tablet with my mum when she visits me. We do the word searches together and lets us have fun together and something to do when it is raining."

At National Care Group we are always looking for more innovative ways to encourage the People We Support to have fun and learn whilst also ensuring we are helping them to unlock their potential and gain greater independence
