National Care Group brought together more than 1,400 of our colleagues for a virtual conference on 28th April, in what was the biggest celebratory event the company has ever held.
Hosted by radio and television presenter Jo Whiley, the annual conference and awards were broadcast live to say a big ‘thank you’ to all colleagues across England and Wales for their hard work in challenging conditions during the coronavirus pandemic.
The theme for the event was ‘Unlocking your potential’, which not only applied to those working for the National Care Group but also to the individuals they support.
Spokespeople included members of our Executive Team, whilst key-note speaker for the event was Professor Martin Green, Chief Executive of Care England, and board member for the National Care Group.
Along with discussions by leading industry voices, attendees were also able to take part in workshops, activities and even a virtual escape room - ending with an exciting black-tie awards ceremony where nine winners from around the country were announced.
“It has been a truly remarkable year, and one that I look back on with pride,” said James Allen, Chief Executive Officer. “Not just pride in what everyone has achieved, but also how everyone has come together as a team to keep the individuals we support safe as we have a commitment to ensuring the people we look after live full and active lives.”
To acknowledge the amazing contribution all colleagues have made throughout the year, National Care Group were pleased to announce a 'Gift of Time' an extra day’s annual leave for colleagues in full-time posts and half a day for those in part-time roles who have been with us for three months or more.
Professor Martin Green commented: “I know every single National Care Group colleague is working tremendously hard to uphold our values and put the people we support at the forefront of everything we do and there’s more hard work to come, but the prize is worth fighting for, and there’s no doubt in my mind that we will achieve it.”
Rounding off the event was the NCG Annual Awards ceremony for colleagues, where the following awards were given:
- Support Worker of the Year - Karen Knight, Cornerstones UK
- Manager of the Year - Julie Shield, Abbeyvale Care Centre

Congratulate all our National Care Group Award Winners
“This event has been the perfect way to round off the past twelve months and the focus now shifts to the future, it was good to share our expectations for next year and for the whole team to know that we will be constantly reviewing how we deliver services to the people we support, making sure that we're in tune with their dreams and aspirations,” said James Allen, Chief Executive Officer.
