Looking back on our ‘I’ve had my flu jab’ campaign

The Coronavirus pandemic has made this a challenging year for everyone, and as we entered the winter months, it was important that our colleagues were protecting themselves, their family and friends, and the people we support against the seasonal flu.

As our colleagues are providing support to vulnerable people in settings where there is an increased risk of spreading the flu, it was important that we were all doing our bit to prevent this from happening.

Natonal Care Group launched the, ‘I’ve had my flu jab’ campaign which aimed to encourage our colleagues across England and Wales to book their seasonal flu jab to protect them and the people we support from the flu.

Exec team leading from the front

To show our commitment to the flu jab campaign, all the members of our Executive Team received their flu jabs, as they wanted to lead by example and help promote the flu jab to those who may be unsure.

Mike Cleasby, Quality Director, said: “It was great to have the members of the Executive Team lead by example in this campaign as we believe that getting the flu jab is very important, especially during COVID.”

Rewards initiative for colleagues and the people we support

To encourage our colleagues and the people we support to get their flu jabs, our care services took on the responsibility to create fun competitions and raffles where people were rewarded with voucher cards and signed certificates.

“Such incentives were a great way to keep encouraging people to get their flu jabs, and also reward those who have been patient and persistent throughout the process,” said James Allen, Chief Executive Officer.

Shannon Spurden, Support Worker at Westward Care, was a recent winner within the South East region after her name was picked out from a raffle with fellow colleagues who had received their flu jabs. Jill Hopcraft, Regional Operations Manager in the South East, said: “I am pleased to see how committed our colleagues, such as Shannon, were in receiving their vaccines to help protect themselves and the people we support from the seasonal flu.”

Looking back

With so many of our colleagues receiving their flu vaccines, National Care Group are pleased to see the amazing work that was being done at our services to continue to follow the guidance and receive their flu vaccines.

Karen Lewis, Chief Operations Officer, commented on the success of the campaign: “It was vital that our frontline staff were getting their flu jabs to protect everyone from the seasonal flu, and it was vital that National Care Group took a proactive approach in promoting this campaign. I am delighted not just by the number of people who had their flu jabs, but also how committed and persistent people were to have their vaccines.”
