COVID-19 Update | 21 January 2022

The Committee reviewed the actions from the last meeting.

The information sent to support vigilance with regard to those supported with a learning disability who may feel unwell had been circulated and was acknowledged. Regional representatives were again asked to assure themselves that appropriate measures were in place in this regard.

An update on transmission rates was given. It was noted that there had been a significant increase in rates in January. This would be kept under review locally as some recent improvement was noted.

Vaccination rates across the organisation were noted and the high rates were acknowledged and welcomed. Booster uptake however, was increasing but very slowly. There remained a need to encourage colleagues to get their boosters and this would mitigate symptoms.

With regard to colleagues who are not medically exempt and not fully vaccinated an update on numbers by Region was given and noted. Support would continue to be offered to these colleagues but there would be no change to the requirement to be vaccinated. Support to Regions was offered if required.

With regard to the recent relaxation of current restrictions announced by the Government in England it was noted that NCG would continue to support hybrid working. The continuation of mask wearing was proposed as sensible. Guidance will be sent.

“There does seem to be leveling off in transmission rates which again gives us hope that we can get back to some sense of normality. We need to remain being sensible in our approach however, and I remain so impressed by everyone’s continued professionalism” Karen Lewis COO
