A new era begins at 8 Acres, Norfolk with new appointment

ATTLEBOROUGH care home 8 Acres, part of National Care Group, has welcomed a brand-new manager as part of its ongoing work to improve the service and the care environment on offer, with significant investment in a refurbishment project also underway.

With more than 23 years’ experience in the sector, Tara Currie began her career as a support worker and has continued to progress to managerial level. Having previously worked at Next Steps Community Care in Peterborough, Tara has been a registered manager for ten years, working within residential and supported living services.

Tara said: “I’m thrilled to have joined the 8 Acres team and the National Care Group family. During my first visit to 8 Acres, I really felt the dedication of my colleagues and the personal care they put into the service they provide. Every single one of them is clearly passionate about what they do and that makes a huge difference to the individuals we support."

“There’s a real buzz about the community at 8 Acres that I’m looking forward to becoming a central part of that and evolving what we do as the investment in the care environment is realised.”

Tara’s career began at the age of 18 after she left college with a job application in each hand, one for the police force and one for the care sector.

She added: “Becoming a carer was definitely the right decision and I’ve never had a single regret. Over the years I’ve been fortunate enough to support, and work with, so many incredible individuals - helping them fulfil their aspirations and achieve their potential is the most fulfilling thing about my job and I can’t wait to continue to do this in Attleborough."

8 Acres provides one-to-one support to the 18 individuals it supports, who are all living with learning disabilities, autism and/or complex needs within a residential setting. As well as appointing a passionate new manager, National Care Group is investing £200,000 into 8 Acres as part of its wider initiative to bolster the service and provide the people it supports with the highest quality care possible.

James Allen, CEO of National Care Group, said: “Investing in, and continually improving, our care services is critical to ensuring the people we support live happy and healthy lives, and our colleagues are at the heart of this. Tara has already proven herself to be a great asset to the 8 Acres team; she brings invaluable experience and guidance to everyone at the service at an incredibly important time and we’re excited to follow her journey as she settles into her new position.”
