Alex Costa
REGIONAL OPERATIONS DIRECTOR - CENTRAL

Alex Costa brings a wealth of experience and expertise in health and social care to his role as Regional Operations Director for the Central Region. With a passion for improving lives, Alex's career began in hospitals, where he provided care in various wards, including gastroenterology and respiratory. During this time, he supported individuals with acute needs arising from substance misuse, alcohol dependency, and other health challenges.

Driven by a desire to make a difference in the community, Alex transitioned from the NHS to work for a specialist provider dedicated to serving individuals with complex health needs. Here, he created tailor-made care packages, assembling highly trained staff teams to support individuals with spinal cord injuries and acquired brain injuries. Focusing on individual outcomes, Alex collaborated closely with nursing teams, as many individuals relied on mechanical ventilation. His contributions were instrumental in achieving 10% of the provider's growth targets, with responsibilities ranging from managing discharges to setting up new provisions and teams.

In pursuit of excellence, Alex assumed roles in quality management and operations within social care. He took charge of the domiciliary arm of a business, overseeing residential and supported living services. His leadership and dedication resulted in significant improvements in CQC and commissioner ratings. Following the acquisition of this business, Alex's expertise was sought to troubleshoot and enhance recovery services across the south of England. He focused on process creation and implementation, financial viability, and elevating the overall experience for individuals within these services.

With a strong track record of success, Alex played a pivotal role in the development of a new built flat scheme services in the East of England. His contributions laid the groundwork for high-quality care provision before joining National Care Group.

Within National Care Group, Alex has been instrumental in implementing governance systems, driving service and quality improvement, and establishing effective management structures. He has played a key role in the development of new services and has supported the organisation through acquisitions and de-registrations, ensuring seamless transitions and maintaining a commitment to excellence.

Beyond his role at National Care Group, Alex has extended his expertise through consultancy work with other providers. He has supported their quality improvement efforts and readiness for CQC inspections, achieving significant enhancements in service delivery, organisational culture, and key performance indicators. Notably, he provided valuable consultation for the development of a specialist discharge unit in Yorkshire, leaving a lasting positive impact on individuals and the broader community.
