Encouraging individuals to follow their passion.

Darren has had a life-long passion for football, and as a big fan of Crystal Palace, he used to attend matches with his dad.

Whilst living with his parents, Darren played for Tonbridge Disability FC, but since moving into his Supported Living services, he had missed playing in a team.

Darren sat with his support staff and discussed how much we wanted to get back into playing football. His support staff respected his wishes and worked together at finding local disability football teams and came across the Maidstone Raiders Football Club.

Staff contacted the Manager of the team and they invited Darren to come for down for a practice session. Darren went along to watch the practice session and whilst there, the Manager encouraged him to take part in training.

He had a fantastic time as he was able to combine his passion for football with the potential of making new friends. Darren also enjoyed the fact that it was a good opportunity for him to work on his fitness.

Whilst visiting, Darren was able to meet Bill Williams, Chairman of the football club, and even has a signed book by him.

Darren has been working hard to show his dedication and passion for football and this has been noticed by the team manager who has said that he can ‘see the hunger in his belly’. Darren now attends training sessions every Saturday morning and is eagerly anticipating his first game which he hopes will be soon.

Everyone at NCG would like to wish Darren the best of luck!
