Macauley's progression story | Becoming a father

We're proud to share a lovely story of progression. A person we support, Macauley, has been on a journey with our Stepping Stones' service Team; moving from secure services to Phoenix House, one of National Care Group's specialist residential services for people with complex mental health needs and then onto being even more independent at our Ryecroft Apartments.

Phoenix House was Macauley's first time being supported to live more independently as an adult. He arrived just needing some support with everyday living skills, including keeping his environment clean, budgeting, shopping, and cooking.

With the support of our expert team, Macauley began to thrive in his new environment, unlocking new confidence and skills. After two years it was agreed he should move to our Ryecroft Apartments in an independent living setting.

Macauley's progression continued as be became extremely motivated to get onto the career ladder. After securing a number of temporary jobs, he achieved full-time employment in a local warehouse. Life began to fall into place for Macauley, and at the same time he formed a relationship with a young lady and they began to spend more and more time together.

Seven months ago he proudly told his support team that he and his partner were expecting a baby, and in July little Oden was born. Macauley now spends half of his time at Ryecroft and the rest of his time with his new family.

All at National Care Group are so proud of the progress Macauley has made, showing that the right support, at the right time, can truly empower someone to change their life.
